Love the Marantz dd82. Totally the center of my music set up even a dedicated shelf for my pre- recorded tapes.
Only regret is that I did not get the dd-92:)

My DCC600 now with my stacks and other vintage audio equipment like sacd and Dat.
All now working.
Many thanks to DCC museum for spares and help and also to others that shared information.
Nice N4504 too!
Nice setup⌠What is that Philips cd record player? Can CD-R record like MD (edit toc, name of songs) or only copy CD-s? Can Play mp3 files on RW discs?
As much as I remember, no, CD-R or CD-RW canât be edited as easily than a MiniDisc. If you want to add or remove tracks, you canât finalize the disc and wonât probably be able to play them on regular CD players (until you âcloseâ the session). It rather works like a computer CD burner.
I remember as well you had to use âaudio CD-Râsâ if you wanted to record with a hi-fi CD burner. Plus, those CDâs were more expensive than normal CD-R/CD-RW, but I know there was a trick (not sure which one exactly) to bypass this limitation.
In short, MiniDisc (and DCC of course ^^) were far more convenient for a general public use.
Some of the 1st-generation âCD-Audioâ recorders could be fooled into accepting a standard CD-R âdataâ blank by inserting the special âCD-R(music)â blank first, letting the recorder recognize it, then forcing the drawer open and swapping the discs. (Apparently, the bug was that it wouldnât notice a media change unless you explicitly pressed the âejectâ button to open the tray.) The manufacturers fixed that bug pretty quickly, though, and it was a good way to damage your driveâs loading mechanism anyway. There were also âpatchedâ (i.e., âhackedâ) firmwares available for a number of them that would bypass the restriction â and some devices, like the Terapin VideoCD recorder, never had it to begin with and would happily record audio to standard blanks.
Still, it was generally more effort than it was worth. Iâm actually kind of surprised to find that they still make those special âCD-R(music)â blanks; I wouldâve thought by now the demand wouldâve pretty much dried up.
DCC and MiniDisc were much friendlier formats for home recording, to be sure!
