Technics RS-DC8 problems

Hi

i came across of a broken Technics RS-DC8, changed the gears (one was broken), pinch rollers, the belt, capacitors on RW board (locally didn’t found 6,3V and 10V, so i replaced them with 16V same value) but still not working.

all the mechanical parts seems to work OK (open, close, start, stop, head is turning from side A to B,..)

the problem is with audio

analog cassettes work OK

DCC casette

  • side A plays recorded cassettes with some dropouts
  • sibe B doesn’t play almost nothing
  • recoding seems that it doesn record anything on side A and B, but seems that it writes track marks

any idea?

Did you download the service manual and test the head in service mode?

You might have lost a few channels, preventing decent DCC playback.

Any differences between side A and B are almost always due to worn out pinch rollers.

Another possibility (less likely) is that the head pivot mechanism isn’t working properly (e.g. because it needs cleaning).

Hi and thanks for response

will try to test the head in service mode as soon as i get new batch of capacitors. the ones i used had too thick leads so i had to solder them on the upped side instead of through hole. So i already removed them and done a better cleaning of the RW board.

Pinch rollers are new. Mayble will try to interchange them, to see if the is any difference

i will check the possibility of cleaning also the pivot mechanism.
