Hello everybody,
I hope everyone’s fine. I’m doing fine thanks but…
…I have a question.
I would like to know if it is a really bad idea to play pre-recorded chrome tape on my DCC recorder (DCC 380)?
Like this one: https://i.discogs.com/FVoRT4K9xfV5N6PM5J2prvZp8kRAwiG8XUvAJazCXwY/rs:fit/g:sm/q:90/h:378/w:600/czM6Ly9kaXNjb2dz/LWRhdGFiYXNlLWlt/YWdlcy9SLTE2MTEx/MTg1LTE2MDM2MTY1/MTItNDY0MC5qcGVn.jpeg
The tape looks high quality but it’s still an analog cassette and I know I should avoid them.
So, is it a big NO NO or I can play some from time to time?
Thanks for your reply!
Big up !
AUGUSTUS.

Hi Augustus,
see this thread: https://forum.dccmuseum.com/t/using-analog-tape-in-your-dcc-recorder/
Chromium is listed the major culprit of abresive properties, so not any better.
Honestly, you can get yourself a decent tape deck for very little money, if you replace belts yourself, but DCC heads are irreplaceable.
Hello Max,
Thanks much for your reply.
Yes, it’s rather wise to play only digital tapes on my DCC recorder and get a regular player for analog compact cassettes.
Have a nice day!
AUGUSTUS.
