Playback issues on a second generation DCC player 300

Issue reported on social media:

Hi,
My DCC300 is behaving oddly. Side A plays well, but when playing side B from time to time there is a moment when sound stops (listen to video).
If the player is cold and starts playing side B, then plays it well and then side A plays OK as well.
I have already chanced the gears, belts and, and pinch rollers.
Any idea of what can be the problem?
Thanks in advanced.

Answer:

If belts and pinch rollers are replaced and ok, and if it is playing when cold, it could be a speed issue. We have had this before on quite a few players of any generation for that matter.

If the speed is off, you will experience dropouts. Sometimes only on one side.
10% or more will cause issues for sure.

If you do not have a adjustment tape, try and listen to a analog tape that you trust and you really know the music well. See if it sounds fast or slow.
