Philips DCC600 Lubrication

Hi all,

I have a question about lubricating the rotating parts in the DCC600 mechanism.

It seems that two different types of grease were used: Molykote PG-65 for sliding components (such as the tape drawer and head carrier), and a different type of grease or oil for rotating parts.

Could anyone advise what kind of oil or grease is recommended for the following:

  • Take-up spindles (especially the area where the spring slips on the axle)
  • Capstan bottom bearings
  • The spider gear (if lubrication is even required there)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Alexander

Can’t give a learned opinion here, but I’d guess a light (watch) oil should be fine for the capstans and white grease/Molykote or Tamiya Boron-Ceramic grease for any gears. That’s what I usually use.
