Hi,
If you are recording from cd, the tracks should come automatically. If you are recording from analog, it is a bit more tricky as the 2 second gap needed for a track to be added, is not always accurate. Check the manual.

When that happens to me I replace the felt pad of cassette.
Almost all older and recordable Cassettes are creating two problems related the original felt pad.
The squeezing sound that creates the suspect that is an equipment head problem
and
track time text info (write/read) due to the fact that is in 9track located on the tape border.
Almost all these two problems are related with felt pads on cassettes .
PS.
If you want to replace the felt pads please see the dedicated DCC Museum video carefully to not damage the cassette.
