Hi,
I’ve just found dccmuseum.com and love to see what you are doing.
I have a portable dcc 170/00 which I bought in the Philips Employee shop in Eindhoven. It is not been used for years. I like to see if it still works but the power supply is lost. I can see it needs 6 V DC but I would like to know what kind of connector it needs. Can someone share this information so I can test if it still works?
Hi Arnold and welcome to the forums!
The power supply plug of the DCC-170, DCC-175 and DCC-134 is 4.0mm outer diameter, 1.7mm inner diameter. That’s a bit smaller than the most common DC power plugs “barrel style”.
I recommend getting a universal power supply with several connectors, like this one: Compact Switching Power Supply - Selectable Output 3-12VDC : ID 1448 : Adafruit Industries, Unique & fun DIY electronics and kits (that’s the one I use).
Make sure it’s 6V center-positive (or can be connected that way). I recommend getting it from a reliable source, not the cheapest one you can find on Amazon. I don’t remember how much current the DCC170 needs but I would just get one that’s at least 1.5A or 2A.
