Just acquired a new in box 951, belts and pinchrollers already renewed… what else should I do to make this a recorder that would last for 30 years?

Congrats, no ACC obviously. Afaik, recapping these is not needed in most cases.

Congrats,

You could consider replacing all SMD caps on the read write board and also check this service bulletin for possible ESD problems.

Well considering the fact that I read failing of those caps, I will renew them with new ones…

Any advise of high quality brands to look for?

At this time it works fine, but I know that bad caps are silent sniper killers, so I will not operate the unit unit is recapped with the finest caps possible.

Nippon Chemi-Con was the recommendation not too long ago.

And if the footprint is the same, there is no harm in going slightly over voltage and heat limits.
