Hello all,
I am new to the forum, and signed up because I have a problem.
Way back in the previous century, I bought a DCC170 player and have been using it for an extended period of time. I once replaced the belt and the device kept on working for another couple of years.
In the last few (5+) the device has been unused and has been standing on my gadget shelf ever since. I recently rediscovered it again, of course when I was cleaning, and discovered that the battery had died completely. I ordered a replacement part without the housing so I transferred the new battery in the old housing. This went well and I ended up with an (again) sealed battery that fit in the case within the DCC recorder.
I measured the voltage on the contacts which was about 5 volts, but the DCC would not start. On external power it is running flawlessly. I took of the back ‘panel’ and also measured the power line, which was good.
I can recall, when hooking up the external power supply you have to press ‘stop’ once more to start the charging, but this does not happen.
I would very much like to get it in a working order again, so any hints, ideas or thoughts on how to solve this?
Cheers,
Patrick.
