Dcc-170 repair atempt

Hi forum,
I am trying to repair this machine that misbehaves after i changed the belt following the dr. Dcc video.
First i worked fine, but a few days later it did not turn on at all. Until i took the higher board out to check belt, fuse, etc, then it suddently started working on test while partly dissasemled. When i put i together it did not work again. Status is that theres no light or movement. Have top board out again but i cant see anything obvious. Do i have to send it all the way to california or do i have other options of faults to check?
Greetings

Maybe the cassette detection switch in the lid isn’t working? That prevents the entire recorder from powering on, if i remember correctly, and with their current age, it’s very likely that the switch has some corrosion in it. Try putting some sticky tape over the switch. You can also short it. It doesn’t harm anything.

Thanks. I did try a piece tape after writing and also contact cleaner. Still no luck, though. Is it relatively easy to get to the board in the lid ?

There are 2 switches potentially preventing the recorder to power on.
The tape detection switch (you can bridge all 4 contacts with a small wire) and the switch in the lid of the player. That would need some contact cleaner / ultrasonic cleaner. You can try and put a small tape over it to keep it pressed down. See if that helps.

Hi again. What pins on the button do i have to check continuity? Ir seems there are three attached legs on the button. And if i ultrasound clean the board, i assume the lcd can not handle the treatment?

You would have to check the little switch on the left.
Please de-solder it before putting it in the ultrasonic cleaner.

It reacts when testing continuity. Unfortunally still no progress. You say bridge all four pins on the tape contacts with a hair of wire

Taped the lid sensor after controlling continuety. Bridged four tapesensor pins. Stil no life unfortunally.

This indicates a electronic problem in one of the boards.
Check the fuse to be sure.

I have now checked the fuse. It seems ok when checking coninuety with a multimeter. What would happen if the ribboncable to the display and buttons is defect? Are they known to be fragile? It seems pretty bend.

Hi, That seems pretty normal to me. However if the cable is broken, the player might not start.
