Sometimes i have luck to be able to buy a number of DCC cassettes that are unique (i guess). One of them is not yet known (nor mentioned) in the All DCC cassette collection, while others are demos/tests/hobby projects of Philips employees back in the days and therefore fun to know about their existence (e.g. Rowen Heze on prerecorded DCC). Alle the cassettes have auxiliary text info (title, album, artist, etc.. but no lyrics). As this might be interesting/existing cassettes, i wanted to share them with all of you as well.
That auction was a low point of collecting for the DCC Museum. Someone had tipped the seller that we were not legitimate and that the person bidding (Rafa) was not the real DRDCC from the DCC Museum. Even convincing the seller was seemingly not possible as we would have loved to add them, Especially the Jesus Christ Superstar.
Some collectors seem to forget the dedication it requires running the DCC Museum with volunteers. We use the tapes, to archive, build the database, make perfect photographs and share the artwork with other DCC fans that are missing it.
First off all thanks for your response!
To clear things up… I know the seller was in contact with many interested buyers (phone and email) as she told about some of these interactions and bids. She also told that the Museum had contacted her as well. I guess why I was the lucky one is due to my highest bid but also that we talked about Philips as I worked there during many years of which 18 years in same period that her husband still worked there as well. So we shared some nice Philips stories of that era and seemed to have a lot in common. Above all I explained that I was very honored to be able to buy those cassettes due to our shared background and interest . She told me that she was glad that the cassettes found another Philips colleague, in the sense “like it had to be this way”. She also told me that she was glad that she sold other Philips stuff (oscilloscopes, turntables, Multimeters, components, etc..) to another old Philips employee.
